Release!

We have released!

I way overestimated my skills and free time, but we do have a complete project here. All the systems I wrote up (the quest system, the 2D/3D for indoor/outdoor) all are used to some extent. Even if it's a smaller scope than what I planned, I'm proud of what I ended up with.

Four months is a bit larger in time scale for me, and I did run out of steam a bit at the end, but I did finish and gained a bit of a better understanding of my own abilities. This project was completed crunchless, I've pushed myself that far before, never again. The main issue was motivation. I've always had a nasty habit of comparing my creative work to others and that becomes unproductive quickly. Going back through the logs, the to do lists I had were surprisingly unreasonable due to scope creep. Despite being legally blind, I have perfect hindsight. The long list of features I wanted to implement and didn't know how/knew would be tedious was not good for productivity. Finally coming to terms with my overconfidence took a bit, but I was determined to not have this join the pile of unfinished prototypes. This is a finished prototype.

Adding more would take a lot of work. This past week I definitely got into jam mode, so there's a large amount of naïve code and very disorganized files, but I do hope to return to Jam Valley some day.

I wish you strength for the days when art is blood.
